23931. Over 6.35 lakh teens register on CoWIN for Covid vaccination
- Teens can register online through an existing account on CoWIN or can also register by creating a new account through a unique mobile number
- New Delhi: The CoWIN platform has till Sunday evening recorded over six lakh registrations in the age group of 15 to 18 years whose Covid vaccination is set to begin from January 3.
- The Drugs Controller General of India granted emergency use authorisation to indigenously-developed Bharat Biotech's Covaxin for children above 12 years with certain conditions on December 24.
23932. GST collection at Rs 1.29 lakh crore in Dec, 2021
- GST revenue collected in December 2021 was over Rs 1.29 lakh crore, 13 per cent higher than the same month last year, the Finance Ministry said
- Though the collection was lower than Rs 1.31 lakh crore mopped up in November, December is the sixth month in a row when revenue from goods sold and services rendered stood at over Rs 1 lakh crore.
- The revenues for December 2021 are 13 per cent higher than the GST revenues in the same month last year (Rs 1.15 lakh crore) and 26 per cent higher than December 2019.
- The gross GST revenue collected in the month of December 2021 is Rs 1,29,780 crore, of which CGST is Rs 22,578 crore, SGST is Rs 28,658 crore, IGST is Rs 69,155 crore (including Rs 37,527 crore collected on import of goods) and cess is Rs 9,389 crore (including Rs 614 crore collected on import of goods),” the Finance Ministry said in a statement.

23933. India’s first Food Museum opens in Thanjavur
- Union Minister for Commerce, Industry, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal on Monday virtually launched India’s first Food Museum here and said measures were on to make the country go up the ladder from currently being the fifth largest agricultural exporter in the world.
- it is the first such one in India to depict India’s food security story from “ship to mouth” existence to becoming one of the largest food grain exporters nations.

23934. Exports jump 43 pc to USD 35.65 bn in Oct, imports soar 62pc
- Export sectors which recorded positive growth during October include petroleum, coffee, engineering goods, cotton yarn/fabs./made-ups, gems and jewellery, chemicals plastic and linoleum and marine products, the data showed.
- India’s exports rose by 43 per cent to USD 35.65 billion in October while trade deficit widened to USD 19.73 billion during the month, according to the official data released
- Cumulatively exports during April-October 2021 stood at USD 233.54 billion, which is an increase of 55.13 per cent compared to the same period last year

23935. India places orders for French HAMMER missiles to enhance Tejas capabilities
- India has placed orders for HAMMER missiles from France to enhance the capabilities of its LCA Tejas fighter jets.
- The acquisition will enable Tejas jets to take out enemy bunkers 70km away. LCA Tejas is a far better aircraft than the Chinese developed JF-17 and the HAMMER would take it ahead of their fleet in strike capabilities
- The order for the HAMMER (Highly Agile Modular Munition Extended Range) missiles from France for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas was placed under the emergency procurement powers as was done for the same missiles to be equipped on the Rafales.
23936. How a Teacher Brought Electricity to a Remote Village After 44 Years
- February 16 will always be etched as a historic date for residents of Nagaland’s Shinnyu village along the India-Myanmar border. The village in Mon district was finally electrified after 44 years and bamboo torches were laid to rest. Due to lack of connectivity, the village has remained cut off from the rest of the world. There are barely any roads, let alone access to proper internet.
- The 33-year-old was posted in the government school six years ago. He had to walk for nearly 12 hours to reach Shinnyu. Originally from Tobu, John would travel for several hours to charge his phone battery when he arrived.
- Today, each house is equipped with a 170-watt solar panel, battery, two mobile charging points, two tube lights and three LED bulbs. There are 11 solar street lights.
- The villagers were so excited with the installation of solar grids, that they looked after the food and lodging for the technicians. They also decided to collect Rs 100 every month for its maintenance. Three people from the village were trained to look after the care and maintenance of solar panels.
23937. Engineer Helps Villages Become Drought-Free & Save 165 Crore Litres Water
- In 2013, Maharashtra experienced one of the worst droughts in 40 years. Villages such as Shelkewadi, Randulabad, Satichiwadi, Muthalane, Phalakewadi and Thapewadi, faced a severe crisis as they fell in the rain shadow region of the Western Ghats.
- Pune-based Rahul Bakare launched Urdhvam Environmental Technologies Pvt Ltd to create an innovative machine — BoreCharger, which increases the quantum of rainwater entering the groundwater aquifers
- the BoreCharger technology undertakes an “angiography” of borewells, using an underwater camera system and studies the various aquifers underground. Once identified, the device creates perforations in the casing pipe at hydro-geologically appropriate depths using a patented robotic arm, allowing the water from the upper aquifer to enter and store in the deeper ones.
23938. किसान का जुगाड़: केले के तनों का बनाया मिर्च के पौधों का रक्षा कवच
- मिर्च जैसी फसलों के पौधों को बचाने के लिए किसानों को असम के किसान राजिब बोरा का मुफ्त का जुगाड़ अपनाना चाहिए, जिसमें बिना किसी अतिरिक्त लागत के किसान केले के तनों की मदद से फसल बचा सकते हैं।
- मिर्च जैसी फसलों के पौधों को खेत में लगाने के बाद कुछ दिनों तक खास देखभाल की जरूरत होती है, कई किसान तो बांस लगाकर तो कई किसान लो टनल पॉली हाउस भी लगाते हैं, जो काफी खर्चीले होते हैं। ऐसे किसानों को राजिब बोरा का यह देसी जुगाड़ अपनाना चाहिए।
- असम में भूत झोलकिया मिर्च की खेती करने वाले किसान राजिब बोरा (41 वर्ष) ने मिर्च के पौधे खेत में लगाने के साथ ही पौधों के बगल में केले का तना लगा दिया है, जिससे पौधा सूरज की तेज रोशनी औरा हवाओं में भी सुरक्षित रहता है।
23939. स्लो बाजार का ऑर्गेनिक 'मधुमक्खीवाला' शहद, लीची से लेकर सरसों तक के स्वाद की मिठास
- 30 साल के मधुमक्खी पालक निमित सिंह शहद को कुछ इसी तरीके से प्रकृति के नजदीक रहकर तैयार करते हैं। वह कहते हैं, "शहद के अलग-अलग स्वाद की एक लंबी लिस्ट है।" निमित का उत्तर प्रदेश के लखनऊ में अपना खुद का एक ब्रांड है 'मधुमक्खीवाला'। जिसके जरिए वे अलग-अलग स्वाद और जायके वाला शहद लोगों को उपलब्ध कराते हैं।
- 30 साल के निमित आज एक सफल हनीमेकर हैं। उनका अपना खुद का एक ब्रांड है 'मधुमक्खीवाला'। इसे उन्होंने 2016 में पंजीकृत करवाया था।
- अब तक वह कन्याकुमारी के तट से लेकर कश्मीर के पहाड़ों तक, पूर्व में ओडिशा से लेकर बंगाल तक और उत्तर पूर्व में सिक्किम से लेकर नागालैंड तक की यात्रा कर चुके हैं। उन्होंने अपने इस सफर में मधुमक्खी पालन की उन बारीकियों के बारे में जाना और सीखा, जिनकी निमित को बहुत ही कम या कहें न के बराबर समझ थी।
23940. India launches 41st Scientific Expedition to Antarctica
- India has successfully launched the 41st Scientific Expedition to Antarctica with the arrival of the first batch of its contingent at the southern white continent.
- The first batch comprising of 23 scientists and support staff reached the Indian Antarctic Station Maitri last week.
- The Indian Antarctic programme, which began in 1981, has completed 40 Scientific Expeditions so far. India has built three Permanent Research Base Stations in Antarctica, named Dakshin Gangotri, Maitri and Bharati.
- The 41st expedition has two major programmes. The first programme encompasses geological exploration of the Amery ice-shelf at Bharati Station. The second programme involves reconnaissance surveys and preparatory work for drilling of 500 metres of ice core near Maitri. It will help in understanding the Antarctic climate.
